About Me
Bio
“Ian is a Flex architect, developer and RIA enthusiast who has been building enterprise grade applications day in and day out since 2005. Ian has also been involved in building stateful, service oriented applications using Flash for nearly a decade. He has a background in game development and engineering and masquerades as a producer and mastering engineer in his spare time.”
Developer
I focus primarily on Actionscript and the Flex framework. I enjoy experimenting with emerging technologies and frameworks surrounding the Flash platform. I study (and write) MVC frameworks and enterprise development best practices. I try to keep language agnostic. I’ve worked extensively in most web development languages and dabble in others like Objective c and python. In a former life I was an aspiring game developer. During that time I did a considerable amount of development around game engines and physics subsystems, primarily in C++. In an even former life I was using C++ to program microcontrollers.
Designer
In a world long long ago I was a 2D designer, animator, and 3D artist. That being said, I take particular interest in the unification of the Flash platform and the Creative Suite to Flex art pipeline, perhaps more so than most developers. Today my old designer instincts have fed into my UI and UX instincts as an application architect.
Me
When I’m not staring at little bits of code I’m a semi-professional EDM producer and audio engineer. I enjoy spending my days off writing music, playing video games, or banging away at on one of my many side projects. In the evenings I’m often found training in Kung Fu.
